Message from our president about upcoming season

An important message from our new league president, Nicole Stevenson, about our upcoming season:

I hope you are well and that you are enjoying all that the holiday season brings!

I am the newly elected PGSL President. I am also a league alumna, playing roughly 12 years of both rec and competitive softball, a coach, and am stepping up from serving as the League’s VP. I am wholly dedicated to giving your player the best experience this season as our league continues to reinforce personal and skill development, teamwork, and our mission.

That said, PGSL, like so many other recreational sports league, is experiencing low enrollment numbers. This is a nationwide trend and is not specific to a sport, age, or gender. If you’ve played with us in the past, you have seen the affect of these lower numbers - decreased level of competitive play, low turnout for games and practices, etc. This year, our registration numbers are very low.

In an attempt to mediate both the low numbers and our dedication as a league to provide young women an opportunity to grow as softball players, the PGSL board has decided to field a team in the Peninsula League’s spring league. This league brings together softball teams from all over the Peninsula and allows leagues that may be struggling with numbers to provide their players a chance to play.

The Peninsula League is a wholly recreational league that culminates in a weekly weekend game. PGSL players age 11-14 will practice in Pacifica and travel over the hill with a PGSL coach to compete on weekends. There will be no additional fees nor additional paperwork to allow your player to play in the Peninsula League. Younger PGSL teams (10U and 8U) may also join the Peninsula League, pending registration numbers.

We hope that this opportunity will allow the young women in PGSL a broader experience that reinforces their growth as players. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at

We are excited about the upcoming season and cannot wait to get it started.
